The 2021 Global Yoga Mala Project, a charity event for yoga practitioners who pray for world peace and freedom through yoga practice and share love with starving and marginalized children, took place on the 22nd at the Yogakula Hongdae Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

This year marks the 14th anniversary of the event, bringing together yoga enthusiasts from Korea and abroad. Twelve leaders led the 108 prostrations of Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutation), a series of 12 poses, in a prayer for world peace through yoga. All donations from participants will be donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation.

Notably, this year's event was held virtually via ZOOM, following last year's event, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A total of 12 of Korea's top yoga masters led three classes.

The first set was titled, "For the Peace of All Humanity, Living Beings, and Nature" and included:

△4. Hwang A-young (Ululu).

The second set was titled, "For the Peace of Our Loved Ones and Those Around Us."

△8. Kim Ji-young (Satya Yoga).

The third set was titled, "For the Peace Within Us."

△11. Oh Kyung-sook (Oh Kyung-sook Natural Healing Yoga)
△12. Kim Seong-su (Kim's Yoga & Pilates), etc., conducted the class via Zoom video, communicating with participants.

The organizers stated, "Through this event, we hope to connect yoga communities scattered around the world during these difficult times due to COVID-19, and to convey the energy of hope created by countless yogis through their practice to our weary citizens. We hope that the 15th event next year will be held outdoors, with more participants sharing their breaths and energy, once COVID-19 is over."

They added, "The Global Yoga Mala Project has endured for 14 years thanks to the beautiful actions of all yogis. The practice of caring for, embracing, and embracing those around us has created the Yoga Mala Project as it is today, and will continue to do so in the future."

Meanwhile, after discussions with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, all proceeds from the 2021 Global Yogamala Project will be used to cover the medical expenses of child 0-Ikle (male, 6 years old, pseudonym), who is currently receiving treatment for third-degree burns all over his body.
