There is a Halachic (Jewish law) principle that prohibits some otherwise Biblically permitted acts if it creates the impression of doing something sinful/prohibited. This Rabbinic principle known as ‘marit ayin’ (appearance to the eye).
How far does this apply? Do new situations create new prohibitions? Or is it only in cases that were legislated in Talmud?
