This Deck was installed almost one year ago. This was it's 1st ever low pressure chemical wash.
As a general rule, this type of stone reacts best to a 1-2% SH Mix. Allowing for adequate dwell time is important. After initial application you should see the Organic Contaminates begin to disappear. Once ready, you should be able to rinse with a water hose. If after Dwell time (15-30 minutes) and rinsing; if you do not see substantial improvement, it may be necessary to reapply the cleaning Mix.
This time, remember the stone is wet. This will dilute the cleaning solution being applied if not yet fully dry.
Being patient and allowing for an extended dwell time; typically an additional 30 minutes or so longer than 1st application should provide improvement. Eliminating the spores entirely will most likely not be possible. As such consider putting in place a scheduled plan to clean and maintain annually. Do Not overspray with harsh chemicals. Remember to rinse thoroughly & remember to Neutralize the deck after rinsing.
▶️ Avoid High Pressure Washing as it can damage the stone. Also, too much PSI (1200+PSI) can blow the sand out if the joints and weaken the base. This can lead to Sunken Paver Stones.
SH Mix is primarily 10 to 12.5% Pool bleach. You should dilute it with Water & Soap.
Soap/Surfactant 2 Oz per gallon of Mix. 10 gallons of water + 2 gallons of bleach + soap/Surfactant will make you a DIY batch.
🔹️Always use Protective equipment such as gloves, eye wear etc.
