He was one of the best high school hockey players ever in the northwest suburbs. Trent Klatt grew up playing youth hockey in Brooklyn Park and starred at Osseo High School, graduating in 1989.
After three strong seasons at the University of Minnesota, Klatt signed a pro contract with his hometown North Stars.
Klatt played 14 full seasons in the NHL with the North Stars, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings.
He is now the head of amateur scouting and player development with the New York Islanders. He scouts first-time draft eligible players in the U.S. and Canada and also in Europe, and also helps players drafted by the Islanders to get acclimated to being on their own and playing professionally.
