(31 Mar 2018) The Paraguayan town of Nemby celebrated a David versus Goliath victory on Friday holding a re-enactment of Jesus's Via Crucis for the citizens to see.
Since 1989, the townspeople have had to endure the continual noise of dynamite explosions made by a rock company that owned the hill.
That is until the end of 2017 when the President of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, signed a presidential decree giving the land back to the municipality.
"We have just got the hill back after a long fight with a woman who owns a rock company," said the Good Friday event organiser Roque Gonzalez.
"That is why we said, 'Let's give the hill to the people."
The townspeople celebrated the first official use of the hill with the religious re-enactment, commemorating the death of Jesus.
