After James Gunn’s DCU has launched with Superman (2025), we are venturing back into the DC Studios canon with Tim Burton's much-beloved follow-up to 1989's original Batman Movie!

Following the success of Batman (1989), this darker and more stylized installment stars Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Birdman) as Bruce Wayne / Batman, returning to protect Gotham City from new threats. The film introduces Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Matilda) as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin, a grotesque outcast with political ambitions, and Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface, Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, whose transformation from meek secretary to whip-cracking anti-heroine has become one of the most iconic moments in comic book cinema.
The ensemble also includes Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter, Catch Me If You Can) as corrupt tycoon Max Shreck, Michael Gough reprising his role as Alfred Pennyworth, and Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon. Burton’s visually haunting Gotham blends fairytale surrealism with comic book grit, featuring unforgettable sequences such as Catwoman’s rebirth, the Penguin’s monstrous campaign, Batman’s upgraded gadgets, and the explosive final confrontation in Gotham’s sewers.
