Though we won’t be specifically talking about topics such as non-binary baddies (👀) or same-sex marriage specifically, we’ll be looking through lens of numerous pieces of queer media to examine certain conflicts and historical context and how they can help us build stronger communities as queer—and straight!—people 👥

Anti-queer legislation and the stripping of related rights via numerous methods such as Project 2025 (nightmare fuel) should not be surprising—the White House has long since prioritized cis-heteronormativity in policy choices, especially during Reagan’s (a devil's!) presidential era 👿🇺🇸

This video is dedicated to HIV/AIDS community scholar, Dr. Harold S. Brown—someone who knew A LOT about these bigoted policy choices and spent his life teaching others about them whilst providing helpful resources for decades 🤎

I received the (now posthumously named) Harold S. Brown Memorial Scholarship just weeks before his sudden passing, and got the chance to hear directly from him over the phone as someone who studied and experienced the HIV/AIDS crisis and how it affected the queer community in the hotspot that was New York City in the 80s and 90s 🌆

His local contributions to educating marginalized people about the virus has not gone unnoticed and he will forever live on the people he has touched by sharing his scholarship and life story 👨🏾‍🏫📖

May he rest in power ✊🏾
