This is the official trailer for "Il Cratere" (The Crater), an animated art short film written and directed by Alessandro Garilli that brings an ancient masterpiece to life to reveal its dramatic journey through the world of art crime. The protagonist is a crater painted by the Greek master Euphronios more than 2,000 years ago.

After being torn from its homeland, the vase itself narrates its own kidnapping and subsequent diaspora, which lasted for over 10,000 days. A journey across the Atlantic, through a sophisticated network of art traffickers, collectors, and museum directors that leads us straight into the dark heart of the illicit trade of cultural goods.

Following its circulation in various festivals, the full film will be coming soon to this YouTube channel.

"Il Cratere" was produced by the ART CRIME PROJECT, an association that pursues the goal of promoting culture and safeguarding our historical and artistic heritage. We actively work to combat crimes that threaten cultural treasures worldwide.

This film was produced as part of the European project RITHMS (Research, Intelligence and Technology for Heritage and Market Security), which aims to counter the illicit trade of cultural goods, under the coordination of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.

Questo è il trailer ufficiale di "Il Cratere", un cortometraggio d'arte animata scritto e diretto da Alessandro Garilli che dà vita a un antico capolavoro per svelare il suo drammatico viaggio nel mondo del mercato di antichità. Il protagonista è un cratere dipinto dal maestro greco Eufronio più di 2000 anni fa.

Dopo essere stato strappato dalla sua terra, il vaso stesso racconta in prima persona il suo rapimento e la sua lunga diaspora durata più di 10.000 giorni. Un viaggio oltre l'Atlantico, attraverso una sofisticata rete di trafficanti d'arte, collezionisti e direttori di musei che ci conduce nel cuore oscuro del commercio illecito di beni culturali.
