Famous for its red sandstone cliffs, sculpted by wind and water into iconic shapes such as the Wolfberg Arch, Maltese Cross, and Lot’s Wife.
The terrain is wild, remote, and often compared to a desert-like, Martian landscape.

The Cederberg is one of the richest areas of San (Bushman) rock paintings, some thousands of years old.
Popular sites include Truitjieskraal, Stadsaal Caves, and many hidden shelters reached by hiking.
🌿 Flora & Fauna
Part of the Cape Floral Region, home to rare fynbos species.
The only place where the Clanwilliam cedar tree grows—an endangered species that gives the mountains their name.
Wildlife includes leopards, rock hyrax, antelope, and many bird species.

Hiking, rock climbing, and bouldering (especially around Rocklands, one of the world’s top bouldering destinations).
Clear skies make it excellent for stargazing, with minimal light pollution.

The region is known for rooibos tea (which is native to the Cederberg), citrus farming, and local wineries such as Cederberg Wines.
