After weeks of Pilsners and IPAs, I’m jumping back into a classic British style with Siren’s Modern Best Bitter.
This is Siren’s contemporary take on a Best Bitter, lightly dry-hopped with Cascade to add a fresh citrus lift while keeping the beer firmly rooted in English tradition. Clean, well-brewed, and very sessionable — but also deliberately lean and restrained.
At first sip, it can feel lighter than expected if your palate is tuned to modern lagers or hop-saturated IPAs. The malt character is subtle rather than toffee-forward, and the bitterness is gentle rather than assertive. That’s not a flaw — it’s very much the point — but it does invite comparison with more traditional, fuller-bodied Best Bitters.
