HOW TO: plan a surprise birthday party (decorations, DIY, mistakes to avoid)

Описание: How to plan your own surprise birthday part including choosing a theme, customizing your drink menu, decorations that you can do it yourself (DIY), and all the behind the scenes that goes into planning and executing a party.

We invited all of their closest family and friends to join us in black or white to help celebrate their birthday!

Things to think about when planning a party:
1. Secure a venue (enough room for all your guests)
2. Create an invitation (canva.com)
3. Distribute the invitation (physically - mail, evite - punchbowl.com)
4. Select a theme
5. Create a decoration mood board (get inspo from youtube, tiktok, pinterest)
6. Decide if you want to hire someone to do all the decorations, certain decorations and DIY some, or all DIY
7. Entertainment! Hire a DJ? or make your own playlist
8. Beverages! Hire a mixologist? Premade drink dispensers?
9. Food? Catered? Diverse menu for restricted diets? or no food at all?
7. Customizable guest touch points: Welcome sign, Drink Menu, Dinner Menu, Name Plates for seating (canva.com/print out at a local print store)

Day of set up: More time is better, more hands is better - one thing that could've been improved for us was our time management. We were still trying finalize decorations when guests were arriving AND we still had to leave to get ready.

We decided to hire a DJ, a mixologist for the open bar and a caterer. We did the decorations ourselves!
