In 1933, Warner Brother’s head of Productions, Daryl E. Zanuck, had cast Miss. Keeler in her first credited screen role, 42nd Street.
Bradford Ropes wrote the Novel, 42nd Street. Warner Brothers purchased the film rights, even before the book had been published, on August 15th 1932 for the sum of $6000. Filming (drama scenes) commenced September 28th and lasted 32 days. Mr. Berkeley commenced the filming of the musical numbers October 18th and wrapping up on November 15th. Cast and crew took 11 days in a row to film the title number, 42nd Street; where as some of the other musical numbers in the film took on average 3 days to film.
