How to do an Assemblé - Ballet tips with Sander Blommaert

In this video I teach you everything you need to know to learn how to do the assemble ballet move or Pas Assemble as it’s also called. Whether you’re an absolute beginner, or wanting to improve your technique I’ll cover the foundations, common mistakes and my personal top tips so you can master the perfect assemble.

The assemble comes from the French ‘step put together’ and is a jump where your feet are brought together in the air and you land on both feet in a fifth position. The Assemble often combined with other ballet moves such as a glissarde assemble or a double assemble.

So the move broken down: in the assemble move you brush one foot out to the side keeping your hips facing forward. Make sure you point your foot and stretch the leg your brushing. You bend your standing leg in a plie to give you the energy to make the jump. As soon as your stretched leg begins to leave the floor you straighten the bent leg and join your feet together in the air. Landing in fifth position.
