Reaching specific point thresholds in each of the three main regions forces a confrontation with the respective Heralds (Joseph Seed's siblings) controlling that area, culminating in the final showdown with Joseph Seed.
Guns for Hire & Fangs for Hire: Players can recruit local non-player characters (NPCs) to fight alongside them. These allies, known as "Guns for Hire," have unique skills. The system also extends to animal companions, "Fangs for Hire," such as the dog Boomer or the bear Cheeseburger, each offering distinct combat advantages.
Combat and Customization: The game offers an extensive arsenal of customizable weapons, from basic handguns and shotguns to rocket launchers and bows. Story Premise
The player assumes the role of an unnamed rookie sheriff's deputy sent with a task force to Hope County, Montana, to arrest Joseph Seed, the charismatic and radical leader of a militaristic doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden's Gate. The arrest attempt goes disastrously wrong, leaving the deputy trapped in the isolated county. The core objective becomes building a resistance movement among the remaining free residents to dismantle the cult's power structure, defeat Joseph's three Heralds (Jacob, John, and Faith), and ultimately liberate Hope County from their oppressive rule.
