Growing up in Sarawak you would always hear the Sape play everywhere. You'd hear it in many contexts and in different places for different purposes. Most of them are calming and in traditional manners. But these guys took it a step further fusing the many different instruments from different tribes in Sarawak such as the Sape, Taboh, Jatung Utang with music styles from Africa, Jamaica, Latin, you name it. These guys made the Sape more of a festival-body moving instrument. They've been together since 2017 and have played festivals all around the world. It was just supposed to be a random shoot for a documentary about gastronomy but I said "you know what how bout we just make it a real recording session and make it an AOK Session while we're at it". Thanks to Iain Bong and Karen Shepard's approval- I got the boys to come in for a quick recording!
