Truth

Justification does not only change our standing before God — it changes our relationship with God.

Romans 5:1–2

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

1. Peace Declared — The War Is Over

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God…”

Peace here does not mean calm feelings.
It means the conflict between sinful man and a holy God has been settled.

Before salvation:
    •    Man was under condemnation.
    •    Sin separated us from God.
    •    Judgment stood against us.

But justification changes everything.

God is no longer against us —
He is now for us.

Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…”

Peace with God is not something we earn daily.
It was settled permanently at the cross.

The believer is no longer an enemy.
The believer is reconciled.
The believer stands forgiven.

2. Peace Provided — Through One Person

“…through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Peace is not achieved through religion, effort, or morality.

It comes through a Person.

Jesus did what man could never do:
    •    He satisfied God’s justice.
    •    He carried our sin.
    •    He removed the barrier between God and man.

Colossians 1:20

“And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself…”

Peace with God was purchased by blood — not behavior.

The cross signed the peace treaty.

3. Access Granted — A New Standing

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand…”

The word access means entrance into the presence of a king.

Under the Old Covenant:
    •    Access was limited.
    •    Only priests entered.
    •    Fear surrounded God’s presence.

Now through Christ:
    •    Every believer may come freely.
    •    Grace is our standing place.
    •    We live accepted before God.

Hebrews 4:16

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace…”

Notice Paul says:

“wherein we stand.”

We are not barely surviving in grace —
we stand securely in it.

4. Hope Restored — A Future Guaranteed

“…and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Salvation does not only fix the past —
it secures the future.

The believer now lives with expectation:
    •    Future glory
    •    Final redemption
    •    Eternal fellowship with God

Hope in Scripture means confident certainty, not wishful thinking.

Colossians 1:27

“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Because we have peace with God today,
we will share His glory tomorrow.

Summary

Romans 5:1–2 shows the blessings of justification:
    1.    Peace with God — the war ended
    2.    Christ the Mediator — peace provided
    3.    Access into Grace — a new standing
    4.    Hope of Glory — a secure future

Justification changes:
    •    Our past (forgiven)
    •    Our present (standing in grace)
    •    Our future (glory with God)

And hope now lifts the believer’s eyes—
