Fajr prayer is the pre-dawn prayer performed by Muslims as one of the five daily obligatory prayers in Islam. It is offered before sunrise, typically during the twilight period before the break of dawn. Here is a short description of the Fajr prayer:
Preparation: Before starting the prayer, a Muslim performs ritual ablution (wudu) to purify themselves physically and spiritually.
Intention: The worshipper makes the intention to perform the Fajr prayer solely for the sake of Allah, seeking His blessings and guidance.
Takbeer: The prayer begins by raising both hands to the ears and saying "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), signifying the start of the prayer.
Standing: The worshipper stands facing the qibla (the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca) with hands folded over the chest.
Recitation: The worshipper recites portions of the Quran, typically starting with the opening chapter, Al-Fatiha, and then reciting additional verses or chapters.
Bowing (Ruk'ah): The worshipper bends from the waist, placing hands on the knees, and recites "Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) three times.
Prostration (Sujood): The worshipper goes down to the floor, placing the forehead, nose, hands, knees, and toes on the ground. They recite "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) three times.
Sitting: The worshipper sits briefly between the two prostrations, reciting "Rabbighfirli" (O Lord, forgive me).
Second prostration: The worshipper goes back into prostration for the second time, reciting "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" three times.
Completion: The worshipper concludes the prayer by turning the head to the right and saying "Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah" (Peace and blessings be upon you) and then to the left, repeating the same phrase.
Fajr prayer holds significant importance in Islam, as it is the first prayer of the day and helps to establish a connection with Allah before starting daily activities. It is recommended to perform the Fajr prayer in congregation at the mosque, but it can also be performed individually at home or any suitable clean place.
