Top 5 Casual Games on Apple Arcade You Can't Miss!

Описание: Today we’re going to take a look at my top 5 picks for casual games available in Apple Arcade.

Starting off the list at number 5 is Sping by SMG Studio. It’s a physics game where you spin on anchors and jump on springs to collect jewels and reach the goal. Spin and Spring…Sping…get it. The game setup is something akin to Cut to Rope where you can get up to 3 stars per level depending on how many jewels you collect, and those stars add up to unlock new levels, of which there are almost 300 of. The mechanics are simple, but it feels good when you hit that timing just right and clear it perfect on a first pass.

The fourth slot is going to Disney Getaway Blast+ by Gameloft. I don’t normally lean towards match 2 games and I was just trying this one out when building this list. But it’s actually really fun. The little keychain characters are cute and there’s some unique level design instead of the ol’ buncha jewels stacked in a box look. Match 2 games have that effect on me where I start playing and think that I’m going to get bored, before I realize it, it’s dark outside now and hours have past.

Number 3 is going to Hidden Folks+ by Adriaan De Jongh. Hidden Folks, simply put is Where’s Waldo on steroids where you have to find specific people or items in a scene. Scenes can be small or they can be vast, very vast… not sure if that’s proper English, but it fits. Not only can the search areas be huge, but the items can be further hidden where an action has to be done to reveal them. You can literally spend days on one scene. The plus with this game is that it has a lot of character, it’s fun to look at all of the little scenarios and all of the sound effects are all phonetic which just adds to the charm.

Second place goes to What the Golf by The Label. What the Golf is just ridiculous, tis a silly place. The ultimate goal is to get from point A to point B, but that might be hitting the ball, a soccer ball, the soccer goal, or a full on Mario game. What’s funny about this one is just how it catches you off guard and I found myself literally laughing out loud. The developer is expanding out the concept with games like What the Car and What the Bat, which are pretty much the same thing, but they’re definitely worth checking out.

There’s a lot of games in the Casual category on Apple Arcade, so before we get to number 1, let’s take a look at some honorable mentions…Zen Pinball Party has loads of tables across multiple IPs. But I would say to get the best experience, play on a bigger screen if you can and play with a controller to give you physical buttons.

Farmside is a reward-based, simplified version of Stardew Valley, with like, the exact same opening story. Exactly the same.

Master Chef: Learn to Cook! is a tactile cooking game that has the feel of a Warioware game with its quick micro games while you're making a dish. The best part is that there’s an online element where you're playing against other real people in the Chef Battle or Prime Time modes.

And Jeopardy! World Tour+ is new to Apple Arcade, it’s a good trivia game that covers a lot of pop culture and pretty simplified history questions… or answers, I guess. This misses the mark a little by pretending to match you with online players, but they're not. There’s just a leaderboard element, it would have been more fun to play if you played against actual people in real time.

Alright, time for number one, my top pick goes to Pilgrims by Amanita Design, the same folks who brought you Machinarium… man, a lot of younger twisters in this one. It uses the same concept of Machi… that other game, where it’s a point and click adventure where you’re dropped into a world and you interact with the environment and the people to solve and progress in a story, a story that you’re not even sure of what’s happening. The uniqueness comes from the card mechanic you use to drop items or people into the scene to solve the puzzle. It’s really the same as point and clicks from the past, it just presents the UI in an interesting way. When you figure out the next step, like in this early one, where you have to get by this guy, but he wants food, so you find this area to cook food, but first you have to find the food, now it looks like you need water to boil the potatoes, so you have to take the cauldron to the river, so that you can go back to the fire to cook the food, and give it to the guy so he can let you pass. It’s very rewarding when you figure out the solution to a puzzle that you never thought that you were going to be able to solve. That and the art style make this a game to check out.
