In this video, Lizzy Stemke—head coach at the University of Georgia—works with players on transitioning from defense to offense using this three-on-six drill that requires players stay focused and fundamentally sound.
To run the drill, three blockers and a coach start on one side of the net, while six players start on the other side of the net. The coach initiates 45 balls to the team of six. The first 15 balls are entered from the outside. The transitioning team must run middle on the first five balls, opposite on the next five balls and outside on the final five balls. The next 15 balls are entered from the middle. The transitioning team must set middle on the first five balls, opposite on the next five balls and opposite on the final five balls. The final 15 balls are entered from the opposite. The transitioning team must set middle on the first five balls, outside on the next five balls and opposite on the final five balls.
