Jupiter's Storm (advanced) to NCC-1701 (terrain park) to Big Dipper (intermediate) is a ski run of varying difficulties located at Crotched Mountain. The trails run from the summit of the ski area to the base area. The run starts as Jupiter's Storm, an advanced trail that starts to the skier's far-right off of the summit. The trail starts off mellow but quickly becomes steeper and steeper. The trail then sharply steeper then flattens out. I would say Jupiter's Storm is probably the hardest trail at Crotched. The trail then changes to NCC-1701, a mellow terrain park with small to medium features. NCC-1701 then runs with Galaxy (a beginner trail) for a bit, though I have never seen a park set up here. Big Dipper, an intermediate trail, then exits off to the skier's right of NCC-1701/Galaxy. Big Dipper runs down to the bottom of the mountain and features a small terrain park, called Little Dipper, on the side near the bottom. The trail ends to the far east side of the base area, near the Valley chairlift.
Crotched Mountain is a ski area located in Southern New Hampshire. The base area is located in the town of Bennington, while a majority of the trails are in the town of Francestown. Crotched is a medium-small ski area with a vertical of around 1,000 feet. The ski area is one of the closest major ski areas to many cities in New Hampshire such as Manchester, Nashua, and Keene, as well as to some cities in Massachusetts such as Lowell and Boston. The ski area is located directly off of New Hampshire State Route 47, just miles from US Route 202. The ski area used to be comprised of two different areas Crotched East and Crotched West. The resort closed due to financial difficulties in 1992. In 2003, the western half of the ski area was reopened by Peak Resorts. The ski area is known for its easy-to-lap top-to-bottom chairlift, The Rocket Express Quad, which makes it very possible to gain a large number of vertical feet in a short amount of time. It is also known for its wide-open groomers and terrain parks. The ski area is also very popular with school ski clubs and race teams, due to its close proximity to major towns and cities in the area. The ski area is also very popular for its night skiing and is one of the only ski areas in New England where the entire mountain is open under the lights. A very unique thing about Crotched is their Midnight Madness Events. Midnight Madness is an event in which the ski area is open for night skiing until midnight on certain dates! At one point, they were even open all the way until 3 am! In 2018, the ski area was purchased by Vail Resorts from Peak Resorts. The ski area is a destination on the Epic Pass, with unlimited access on the full Epic Pass, the Epic Local Pass, and the Northeast Value Pass. The ski area was also previously on the Peak Pass, which was discontinued for the 2020-2021 season.
