How to increase iron level(English), Food increases the iron absorptions, some food which increases the iron absorption that is vitamin C rich food or citrate foods. Vitamin A and beta carotine also increases the iron absorption. Some foods decreases the iron absorption that is tea, coffee, cocoa or some herbal tea. Calcium also inhibits the absorption of iron. Magnesium and Zinc also decreases the absorption of iron. Drinking one cup of black tea with meals, it reduces 60 to 70% iron absorption.Two forms of iron, heme iron and non heme iron. we get Heme iron from animal sources and it is readily absorbed. we get non Heme iron from plant and iron fortified sources and it is less absorbed. Eat your iron rich foods with vitamin C rich foods or Vitamin A rich foods for the better absorption. Best absorption of iron is in acidic medium. Iron is the most important minerals of our body. Coffee and tea, both of which are widely consumed around meals, have a high content of polyphenols, and they have been shown to inhibit the absorption of non-heme iron. Some foods you should avoid during iron rich diet, for better absorption of iron.
