This design has been used to build thousands of 300B amps, both DIY and commercial over the past 30 years. I used this JC Morrison, direct coupled 6SN7 schematic, as the basis for my 300B DIY build series and after listening to it, decided it needed some Skunkie Designs love and it got it. I switched the front end to a cascode, got a ton more headroom + it transformed the sound!
Here is a website that explains about the cascode design in more detail. The grid leak bias design is really more for guitar amps than HiFi use, and that was the problem the Nobsound 6P1 amp had. This 300B amp showed the same weaknesses but re-engineering it to a fixed bias, cascode setup solved so many problems!
