Herndon Career Center creates RWL experiences for students to earn industry-recognized credentials

Описание: Educators Ken Cooper, Stephanie Migletz, and Jim Oliver who teach at the Herndon Career Center, operated by the Raytown C-2 School District, explain how their classes in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), construction, and cosmetology support student attainment of industry-recognized credentials while still in high school.

The industry-recognized credential is one pathway for students to graduate with a Market Value Asset (MVA).

Real World Learning is a Kansas City initiative that reimagines high school to provide every student with access to embedded professional experiences including client-connected projects, internships, entrepreneurial experiences, industry recognized credentials, and college credit. Students who earn MVAs through these industry-valued experiences are proven to be more likely to pursue further education and successfully navigate the journey to employment.

More than 34 school districts, 87 high schools, and roughly 100,000 students are engaged in Real World Learning and supported by the RWL program operated by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
