Shwetha Iyer, MD, Program Director for the Residency Program in Primary Care Social Internal Medicine (PCSIM), explains the three tracks encompassed by residency program, the role in which community activism plays in social medicine, the collaborative, mentor-based nature of the program, and that the ideal resident for the program has an interest in understanding the needs of their community.
This video was created as part of a series in which current residents openly share their experiences in the Moses-Weiler Internal Medicine Residency Program at Montefiore Einstein.. The goal of the series is for prospective residents who could not visit campus during the COVID-19 pandemic to get a true sense of whether or not the program is a good fit in terms of academics, structure, and mission.
