Four passengers were killed after being hit by a train at Chunar Junction in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district this morning. Officials say they had just gotten off the Gomo–Prayagraj Express and tried crossing the tracks from the wrong side — when the passing Kalka Mail ran them over at platform number 3.

The accident has triggered fresh questions about passenger safety, track access, station crowd management — and the urgent need for tighter enforcement against crossing tracks in high-traffic zones.
