Описание: The Maryland Office of the Public Defender hosted a press conference to officially launch the Maryland Justice Partnership (MJP)—a new statewide initiative bringing together state agencies, community organizations, and academic partners to advance meaningful justice reform across Maryland.

Maryland has one of the highest incarceration rates in the nation. The Maryland Justice Partnership was created to move reform from recommendations to action by organizing the work through six Implementation Hubs, each led by a state agency, a community co-lead, and a university partner. These hubs focus on:

• Community safety and crisis response
• Pretrial justice and diversion
• Behavioral health justice
• Fair sentencing and parole reform
• Community reintegration and stability
• Youth justice and educational equity

Building on the 18 recommendations of the Maryland Equitable Justice Collaborative, the Maryland Justice Partnership is designed to ensure progress is measurable, timelines are public, and accountability is real.

This press conference features remarks from Maryland Public Defender Natasha Dartigue and partners from across the state who are helping lead this work forward.
