The Mutiara LRT Line project will span a total of 29.5 kilometres, with Bandar Sri Pinang being one of the 21 elevated stations for the LRT project. From 21 elevated stations, 20 will be located on Penang island and man-made Silicon Island, and one at Penang Sentral on the mainland.

On 11 Jan 25, the groundbreaking ceremony was held at Bandar Sri Pinang, Sungai Pinang by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Scheduled to begin operations in December 2031, the Mutiara LRT Line project will take 6 years to complete ! Hopefully the track between Komtar to Airport can be completed first and open to public in 3-4 years time. 6-year to build a LRT line (not MRT) seems long time and anything can happen if there is a change in government.
