Mehrabad International Airport
Mehrabad International Airport is the name of one of the airports in Tehran, the capital of Iran, which was built in 1317. This airport is located in the western part of Tehran and takes its name from the village of Mehrabad, south of Deh Bala, which was previously located in that area. The airport is equipped with ILS and VOR systems. Mehrabad is the fourth airport in Iran and the Middle East after Masjed Soleiman Airport, Bandar Lengeh Airport and Qaleh Marghi Airport. In 2015, 132,245 planes landed and took off at the airport, carrying 111,107,822 kilograms of cargo and 16,327,359 passengers.
Among those who played a key role in the construction and development of the airport's international terminals was the American William Pereira, who, along with several other companies, gave the airport a new look in 1972. The Bell Helicopter Training Center in Tehran also designed the same group.
In 2005, the airport had six terminals, which are terminals one and two, which are related to Iran Air, Iran Airtour, Ata Air and Qeshm Air. Terminal 3 of the airport belongs to the pilgrims. Terminals four, five and six are used for the departure and arrival of flights of other companies, respectively.
In 2005, Mehrabad Airport was able to control more than 70,000 transit flights, 10,000 domestic flights and 30,000 international take-offs and departures.
In the same year, Iran's airports had a capacity of 61 million passengers a year, and 90% of passengers flew from 12 airports: 45% of passengers were served by Mehrabad Airport, 45% by provincial airports, and 10% by satellite airports.

Imam Khomeini International Airport
Imam Khomeini International Airport is located 30 km from Tehran, in the administrative and political area of ​​Shahreri (Fashafoyeh Rey section) of Tehran, between the Tehran-Qom freeway and the lower part of Vehanabad district, and in a historical area of ​​Ma'mourin clay hill in a 14,000-hectare site. This airport was designed as a replacement for Mehrabad International Airport, which is now located within the city of Tehran. Imam Airport is managed by Imam Khomeini Airport City Company and is the center of activity of Iran Air, Mahan Air, Aseman Airlines, Qeshm Air, Caspian Airlines, Taban Airlines and Zagros Airlines. Until August 2014, Imam Khomeini Airport hosted more than 40 airlines that connect Tehran to cities in more than 30 countries with more than 700 weekly flights. Phase 1 of Imam Khomeini International Airport has an active passenger terminal with a capacity of 5.6 million passengers and 120,000 tons of cargo per year, and phase 2 of the airport is under construction. In September 1993, the communication bridge of phases 1 and 2 was used as a temporary terminal for pilgrims with a change of use. In 2016, there were 53,359 landings and take-offs at the airport, carrying 7,821,369 passengers and 148,020,415 kilograms of cargo. Recently, the Salam terminal of this airport has been opened.
