Kouri Richins attorneys question possible 'truthfulness' of lead detective

Описание: Attorneys for Kouri Richins are questioning “at the very least the accuracy, and quite possibly the truthfulness” of the lead detective’s testimony in her murder case. At issue are statements made by Kouri Richins to Detective Jeff O’Driscoll and Hoffmeyer in April of 2023, and O’Driscoll’s testimony about those statements on January 23rd of this year.

Richins attorneys want to get those statements suppressed for her upcoming trial.

In the filing Richins attorneys Kathy Nester and Wendy Lewis say the state has given them “potential Giglio information.” Giglio information is any information that the government has that could call into question the honesty of a witness’s testimony. Richins filing says the information was disclosed by The State. In her case, the state is represented by the Summit County Attorney’s Office. Attorneys on the case have been County Attorney Margaret Olsen, Patricia Cassell and Brad Bloodworth.
