We have moved our popular Agronomy Roadshows online this year so we can still let farmers in Scotland know about the latest crop research. As well as addressing some of the hot topics affecting their businesses, not just in Scotland but local to their region.
In partnership with Scotlands Rural College (SRUC) and the Farm Advisory Service (FAS), we will provide information and thought-provoking conversations delivered via a range of speakers drawn from research, industry, and farming, to provide expertise from all areas of agriculture.
The final session in the Winter Roadshow series will focus on Potatoes
10 am Technical Lecture - SPot farm results. Eric Anderson from Scottish Agronomy together with Colin Herron from McCains will present the findings and trial results from the first year of the Scottish Seed Potato Farm project hosted by Jim Reid of Milton of Mathers in St Cyrus, near Montrose, Angus.
In 2020 they trialed and tested PCN soil sampling protocols, desiccation methods, reduced cultivation techniques, alternative fertilisers, and novel cover crops to reduce virus risk in seed crops.
11:15-12:15 'Ask the experts' session hosted by Claire Hodge, AHDB's Senior Knowledge Exchange Manager for Potatoes will provide an opportunity to ask questions about what was discussed during the webinar.
