What I am going to bring you through in this guide will show and demonstrate in simple terms
1. How and Why Thousands of Contributory OAPs had underpayments of Tax in 2021, 2022 & 2023 due to Cost-of-Living Payments
2. Why Contributory OAPs received refunds or had a reduction in the amount of tax deducted in November 2025 of approximately €50 for those on the maximum rate and standard rate cut off point.
3. Why the Tax Credits and Standard Rate Cut Off points (SRCOPs) for recipients of the State Pension (Contributory) are reduced by annualised amounts equating to 54 weeks on their records as confirmed on their 2026 Tax Credit Certificates.
Payroll Matters in Ireland is a voluntary community Social Media Platform for all PAYE workers and their employers to ask, get answers and find out about Pay, PAYE, Income Tax Returns, Public Holiday Entitlements, Universal Social Charge, Pay Related Social Insurance, Pensions, Redundancy, Week 1 Basis, Statements of Liability, Tax Credits Employee and Employer Statutory rights and obligations and a myriad of other work & payroll related issues, all free of charge.
Payroll Matters in Ireland is supported by Boyle Payroll Project Management, which is Ireland’s Premier Payroll Processing provider for small businesses and also looks after the tax affairs for PAYE taxpayers who wish to have someone to claim the tax credits they are entitled to and to complete their PAYE End of Year Income Tax Returns.
This YouTube Channel is one of the two key components of our platform in that it provides us with the tools to bring PAYE workers through step by step guides on how to perform many tasks on the Revenue Website. It also allows us to explain concepts and calculations to Taxpayers in more layman’s terms.
The source or feeder system for these explanations and step by step guides is the Facebook Group called Payroll Matters in Ireland where PAYE Taxpayers ask their questions. Sometimes a simple answer is not sufficient, so these Facebook Group members are directed to this channel with the link to the video that addresses their question.
The other social media outlets provide a mechanism for Payroll Matters in Ireland to get our message out to a wider public audience. This Youtube Channel, the Facebook Page and Facebook Group are called Payroll Matters in Ireland and new members followers and subscribers to our channel Payroll Matters in Ireland are always welcome.
