This is part 39 of this series and today we'll learn how to import and how to work with 3D models in Adobe Photoshop. First, you need a 3D model, and since this is a Photoshop course, you might not have one yet. I recommend downloading free 3d model from sketchfab.com, where I also grabbed the banana for this tutorial. If you want to create your own 3D model, I recommend using Blender, which is free and also the leading software for 3D modeling. Once you have your 3D model, it will probably come with quite a few additional files for textures and similar stuff. What you are looking for is a file with .obj filename extension, which is the most common one, but keep in mind that 3D models can be in many different formats. The ones Photoshop support for 3D models are as said .obj and then also a bunch of other formats listed on the screen. Then drag and drop your 3D model into Photoshop and Photoshop will transform into an ultimate 3D workspace. At the top, you can find the tools to rotate, move and pan the camera in different directions, and the tool on the right also allows you to zoom in and out. If you don't want to see the grid, you can go to view, extras, or use a shortcut CTRL+H. You can also change the default texture to any other material from a wide library or use the sliders to modify the original one. I also don't need this shadow so I'll navigate to this brush icon and then untick the shadows option. I'll change the background and add some text just to demonstrate that you can then use Photoshop with 3D model just as you usually do, just with an additional option to go back to 3D view at any time to change the perspective, rotation or even to change the direction of the light.
