The 996 generation is among the most hated Porsche 911s, mostly because of its "fried egg headlights". While I think the runny egg lights make the front end more aggressive looking, I'm certainly in the minority. This 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic with a 6-speed manual transmission.
There’s a few things that separate a Carrera 4S from the rest of the 996.2 Carrera models. In the early 2000s when this car came out, Porsche decided to give the C4S all of the turbo styling but keep the 3.6L M96 motor from other 996 Carrera models. This styling included turbo cosmetic items like the rear widebody fenders, front and rear bumper, and side skirts and functional parts like the Turbo twist wheels, Turbo brakes, and Turbo suspension.
The previous owner of this 996 installed a few tasteful modifications like H&R lowering springs and wheel spacers, Tubi mufflers, and a full audio system upgrade. All of these mods add to the driving experience and make this car an absolute blast in the corners and around the city.
If you’re thinking about buying a 996 before they increase in price even more, go for it. The headlights are most people’s biggest gripe about this car, and it comes down to whether you like them or not. The 996 generation holds a few fantastic 911 models and you won't be disappointed by any of them.
If you own a Porsche 911 from the 996 generation, drop a comment below! I'd love to hear about your experience with these cars.
