This winter weekend was one of those rare, perfect ones -- cold, bright, and just right for burning brush piles on the homestead. As we worked, I found myself reflecting on the importance of noticing and celebrating the good moments, especially when life also holds heavier, more difficult things.
One way we do that in our family is through traditions -- especially how we celebrate Jasmine's January birthday. For her first birthday, we gave her a full, white Christmas tree. Each year, we add ornaments that reflect the interests she discovered over the past year. This year it's reading, riding horses and learning musical instruments -- little markers of growth, curiosity, and joy.
This video is also about balance. About holding both the hard and the good at the same time. About choosing to notice what's working, what's growing and what's worth celebrating -- even in the middle of everyday work and winter chores.
If you're navigating a season that feels heavy, I hope this reminds you that joy doesn't have to be big or loud -- sometimes it's quiet, intentional, and. built one small tradition at a time.
