Dave Arneson helped to create D&D as we know it, and for reasons I'd rather go into he got to add his original world of Blackmoor to the D&D releases in the 80's. And where else to put the world of the one of the founders of D&D in the greatest setting of all time, Mystara? Of course, Blackmoor needs its own location in Mystara, so why not the distant past? Only with nice and convenient time travel to get from the Known World to Blackmoor and back again.
