Meanwhile the drivers of the world economy are now developing countries, with countries in the East Asia and Pacific region accounting for 40% of global growth. But we still live in a world that has more than a billion people living in absolute poverty. What is the role of aid in this changing world? And with the 2015 deadline for the UN Millennium Development Goals edging closer, what more needs to be done to meet those targets?
