Only two pieces by Chaminade (1857-1944) are regularly heard: the concert study 'Automne', and the flute Concertino, but most of her piano works are now available on disk. The Sérénade is representative of her style. It could be open to criticism for lacking textural variety, although the melody does switch between registers several times.
