Often we feel that we are "on the path" based on the structure provided by the educational system. This means it is expected that we should proceed from grade school to middle school to high school to college and beyond year after year . This talk will talk about what can happen when one "steps off the train" (the analogy to being "on the path") and opens himself/herself to other experiences that may be useful in overall life experience and development.
Erika is CEO of Counterpoint Health Solutions, a Biotechnology start-up company aimed at discovering unique early prediction, disease progression and therapeutic biomarkers in diseases such as Huntington Disease. She founded Science From Scientists program to encourage student involvement in science research, believing that it is possible to spark interest in science by involving students in hands-on projects.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
