The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially banned electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) and installers from charging Nigerians for electricity meter installation.
According to the Minister of Power, smart electricity meters are to be installed FREE OF CHARGE nationwide, and anyone caught demanding payment will face prosecution.
This move is part of the government’s effort to end estimated billing, close Nigeria’s metering gap, and protect electricity consumers from illegal charges.
