Starting the new year off with one of my favorite pieces I've ever composed! "Yūsha Sofia" began as a poem written by a sweet friend of mine, Elle, and is still a song I love to play anytime I'm at the piano. The poem is a pantoum, which is a form of poetry that repeats lines from the previous stanza, which I think is just really cool— and didn't she do a masterful job with the poetry?
I've loved the bittersweet beauty of this poem from the moment I first read it, and it wasn't long before I was singing it at the piano. I reached out to Elle, asking would she mind if I put it to music? She was thrilled with the idea, and I am so honored to have been able to put her beautiful poem to music, and now to be able to share it with you all!
(And my apologies for any and all background noise. It is my goal to one day re-record my music with more professional recording equipment, but for now my hope is just to share my music with those who want to hear it! I appreciate you all!).
