Operating Modes :
Mode I : 𝛂" ≤ 𝛚"t ≤ 𝛑
During +ve half cycle of ac input voltage : SCR is turned ON at 𝛚t = 𝛂

Mode II : 𝛑" ≤ 𝛚"t ≤ 𝛑+𝛃
During -ve half cycle of ac input voltage : SCR is ON till 𝛚t = 𝛑+𝛃

Inductor opposes the change in current through it by developing a voltage across it proportional to rate of change of current.
