Going on vacation and worried about your inverter or fridge? In this video, I’ll show you how I built a "Vacation-Ready" power monitor using an ESP32 DevKit V1. This system senses when the grid goes down in real-time and sends an instant alert to a Slack channel, so you’re informed no matter where you are in the world.
Key Features
Instant Notifications: Real-time grid status via Slack Webhooks.
Inverter-Safe: 1000µF capacitor setup to bridge the 20ms switchover gap.
Modular Hardware: Uses a USB-TTL converter as a non-invasive mains sensor (no wire cutting!).
The Hardware Stack
ESP32 DevKit V1
USB-TTL Converter (Silicon Technolabs / CH340)
1000µF 25V Electrolytic Capacitor
Female-to-Female Jumper Wires (No soldering required!)
The Code Logic
I wrote this in the Arduino IDE using C++.
