Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal, which boasts airport-like facilities, in Bengaluru.

Built at a huge budget of ₹314 Crore, the Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal began its facilities in the month of June 2022.

The Byappanahalli terminal is the third major railway terminal in Bengaluru and the first air-conditioned one in the country.

“This is one of the newest stations with state-of-the-art facilities. We wanted to ensure seamless movement of road traffic connecting to the terminal. We worked very closely with the BBMP to build connecting roads to improve the road access to the new terminal,".

Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal is one of the most iconic railway stations in India. It is known for being the first centrally air-conditioned station in our country. The infrastructural development and facilities are simply extraordinary at this railway station in Bengaluru’s Byappanahalli.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru railway station (station code: SMVB) is an Indian Railways train station located in Baiyyapanahalli, Bengaluru in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the third intercity coaching terminal in Bengaluru after Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru Station) and Yesvantpur Junction.

The terminal has a VIP lounge, a waiting hall, and a digital real-time passenger information system. It also boasts a food court and has lifts, ramps, and stairways that connect to the subway, and a foot overbridge;

Many posters with QR codes have been put up across the station to access sign language videos explaining its infrastructure. It also has multiple charging points at every level.
