Their tireless service during the plague inspired Maharaja Chamaraja Wadiyar X to donate 20 acres in 1884, enabling the founding of St. Martha’s Hospital in 1886. What began as a 50-bed refuge is now a 500-bed institution, still renowned for affordable, compassionate care—an enduring legacy of service and royal generosity
