Why Loki's Real Villain Is Ravonna Renslayer

Since the debut of Jonathan Majors's He Who Remains in Loki Season 1, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe pegged him as the series' villain. And since Kang will play a big role in, at least, *Avengers: Kang Dynasty*, it's a fair assumption. However, Season 2 reveals the real threat to Loki, Mobius and the TVA is Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer.

Like Victor Timely, the name Ravonna Renslayer comes from the history of Marvel Comics. She is often portrayed as the paramour of Kang the Conqueror and a villain in her own right. In one arc, she even impersonates a Kang variant. In this series, she starts as a loyal soldier of, first, the Time Keepers and, then, He Who Remains. However, the Loki Season 2 premiere included a recording in the past version of the TVA in which He Who Remains called Ravonna "a marvel." In her immediate interactions with Victor Timely, she seems taken by him. However, thanks to some conniving by Miss Minutes, Timely breaks ties with her because he "doesn't do partners." This rejection could be the costliest mistake any Kang variant ever made.
