Online OCHEM Experiment: Demonstration of the laboratory experiment to perform an Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution (EAS) of methyl benzoate to synthesize
m-nitromethylbenzoate. Includes demonstration on use of Buchner funnel and an aspirator was used, the vacuum was out that day. The crude product was recrystallized using methanol. The purified product was weighed so the precent could be calculated and the melting point found to determine the identity and purity of the compound.
