UPDATE: Sky One returned on February 24th 2026, replacing Sky Showcase and Sky Max. This video is now outdated, but you can still watch it. As for Sky Replay, it actually closed down on October 30th 2025.
We are losing an iconic channel after 40 years.
Today, Sky have announced they are closing Sky One down following a shake up in the channel listings and it will be replaced with Sky Showcase and Sky Max. It’s quite upsetting.
Sky One first launched in 1982 as Satellite Television then rebranded to Sky Channel in 1984 and it became Sky One in 1989. The channel brought shows like The Simpsons, Futurama, Dream Team, Friends and In the Long Run and great ones like E Street, Paradise Island, S.W.A.T, Modern Family and children’s shows.
It’s sad to see Sky close it down. But Sky Showcase and Sky Max will both be more better.
R.I.P Sky One 1982-2021.
