Today, we're going to be taking a look at Part# C55504. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product is going to fit certain years and models of the Dodge Ram Pickup. It's going to provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. The connector is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately.
It's also going to include your tail light converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailers. It's going to be constructed of surface mount technology for consistent, reliable performance, so the unit's going to maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It's also going to ensure superior operation, even in rough road conditions. Here on the 4-way connector side, it does include a dust cap, that way we can protect our connection points when the plug's not in use. It's also designed to connect quickly and easily.
You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate your connection points behind your rear bumper. The detailed instructions are going to indicate where those connection points are. Once you have those located, you're going to plug in your T-connectors. The end with the yellow wire, that's going to go to the driver's side of the vehicle, and the end with the green wire, that's going to run over to the passenger's side of the vehicle. Once you have those connected, you want to make sure they're fully inserted, and that the locking tabs are secured.
It's going to create a nice, tight connection. Then, you'll need to locate a suitable grounding point. That's going to be our white wire with a ring terminal attached to it, and you can get that attached using the included self-tapping screw. Then, the next step will be to mount the converter box. You can do this using the included double-sided adhesive tape.
Get it attached to a nice clean surface where it's up and out of the way. Now, once your installation is complete, the connectors are going to be stowed near the rear of the vehicle near the trailer hitch. IT is recommended that you use a mounting bracket that's going to help keep it secured. The mounting bracket is sold separately, or you can loop it around your safety chain loop if you don't want to use a mounting bracket, but just get it to a point where it's easily accessible and also out of the way from any other components that you don't want it interfering with. Then, you can also use the included zip ties, or cable ties, to secure any excess wiring, keep it up and out of the way, and safe from the elements. Now, when it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3 amps per circuit. For the tail lights, we're looking at 6 amps per circuit. It's also recommend that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That's going to really help prevent corrosion from being able to get into those connection points. That's going to do it for our look at Part# C55504.
