One of Bulgaria's most popular hikes is through the Seven Rila Lakes. Before reaching the lakes, we stayed a night in a hut below the peak of Malyovitsa. The next day we hiked to the peak and then descended to the lakes. The views from Malyovitsa are incredible in all directions. Getting closer to the lakes, the trail becomes a-lot busier as there is a ski lift on the other side of the range providing easy access. The lakes are immaculate. Some of the most pristine water and scenery I've ever seen. We were planning on staying the second night at the hut right by one of the lakes but became tempted by the promises of better food at the ski resort which was only an extra 40 minutes of walking. The lakes are definitely worth all the hype and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Bulgaria.
