Two tips to make lifting things just a little bit easier.
Whether it's lifting the laundry or the grandkids we all have to do some lifting from time to time.
You probably know that you should keep whatever you're lifting close to your body, lift with your legs and tighten your core.
But here are a few things what will also help:
1. Screw your feet into the ground: This puts your legs into a more stable position which makes it easier to lift especially with heavier loads and it is better for your knees.
1.5. Breathe out with your lips just slightly apart as you lift. Holding your breath makes your spine more stable but you can't do much for very long when you hold your breath. This helps to keep stability in your spine while also continuing to breathe.
2. Rotate your shoulders out: This puts your arms and shoulders in a more stable position and might even reduce any shoulder pain you might have with lifting!
